Student Spotlight: Gena’s Story
When I moved to the U.S. in 2021, I did not speak English at all. My family and I struggled every day because of the language barrier. In 2023, I joined Folsom Cordova Adult School. There I found ESL classes, Computer Basics, and the U.S. Citizenship class—all at no cost.
The teachers and staff at FCAS gave me more than English skills. They gave me confidence. With their support, I overcame my fear of speaking, passed my citizenship exam in 2024, and proudly became a U.S. citizen.
Today I am studying Massage Therapy at the National Holistic Institute. My dreams have changed, but because of FCAS I know I can succeed in new goals. Thank you, Folsom Cordova Adult School, for opening the doors to my future!
